Last week-end we finally had
Jenny and Jeff here with us! They arrived from Rome on Friday, after a cruise between New York and Rome, that made them visit great places in Portugal, Spain, Morocco, France and Italy.
The first day together we brought them to visit the Sanctuary of San Romedio near Trento, in Valle di Non. Jeff was fascineted by the story behind the building of this incredible place, overlooking an alpine canyon from the heights of a cliff. The story tells that San Romedio was on his way to Trento to visit the Bishop when he was attacked by a bear. The bear killed his horse, so with the help of God, he rode the bear and reached Trento anyway. For this reason San Romedio has always been rapresented on paintings with a bear nearby. The weather was great and we really enjoyed the time together. We spent the night in Trento, eating in a typical restaurant (strangolapreti, canaderli and pizza)...and ending with a special gelato having a walk in the city centre.
The second day together, we had some scheduled engagements with friends who had their wedding. So we went to the cerimony in church in the morning, while Jenny and Jeff rested a bit at home and then went discovering the area where we live and also went shopping at the grocery store (where they found that funny ostrich food for babies....personally they sound strange to me too!!!). We had lunch together (we cooked our "famous" pasta with lemon and fresh mint!) and then we went to Toblino, where we had a walk around the lake and visited the castle. This is one of my favourite place here in Trento, and it's a possible location for our wedding party next year. We'll see!!!
For dinner we went to eat gelato again. ;)
For a coincidence, Jeff and I both have the same preferencies in gelato's flavours: stracciatella and chocolate! YUMMY
On Sunday we brought Jenny and Jeff to visit Venice. We live just a couple of hours drive from Venice, so we tought that Jenny and Jeff would have liked a visit of this incredible and unique city! And in fact we really enjoyed the day there together, also thanks to the beautiful weather and great company...
We also met some Ely's relatives that were there on holiday.
On the way back to Trento we stopped for dinner in Bassano, where we brought J+J to one of our favourite restaurants: Ottone.
Ely was teased by Jenny's choice to also order homemade pasta with duck ragù...and it was great! Jeff and I preferred some gnocchi with San Daniele ham...YUMMY YUMMY YUMMY!
What a nice dinner with great food and great new friends!
It was sooooooo nice to have Jenny and Jeff here with us. Spending time together made us know each other much better and we really appreciated their company.
We just couldn't bake the cholate chips cookies, that is a special Jenny's recipe. But we will next time we'll meet...that hopefully won't be too far!
Enjoy the rest of your trip, Jeff and Jenny
...and keep in touch!!
