First day in Dubai

Here we are! Finally we are in Dubai. After a stopover in London and one in Amsterdam, we arrived this morning. Unfortunately we can't connect to the internet with our cellphone here (in order to post some pictures!) but we can use computers in the hotel, so we can almost send some updates about our arabian adventures!

This morning, as soon as we arrived, the temperature at 6am was already at 36C. And it was kind of foggy...which wasn't fog but the rest of the last sand storm! Fortunately tomorrow it will be gone. During the day, we enjoyed some relax around the hotel pool and we went around in the old souqs, where it's kind of difficult to look at the shops, because as soon as you watch a shop window, the owner asks you to go in and buy something. So we basically decided to go straight and just keep saying :" Thanks, we are just having a look around...maybe we come back later!". :)

Anyway, wandering around the souqs with the sound of the muslim prayer was very exotic!

In the evening we went to to a great shopping mall, because we needed some air conditioning!!!! Have a look!

Hope to be able to post soon again!

iPhone blogging: test 2

It's working!!!!! (almost partially!!!!) ;(

In my last test/post I attached an image but it didn't appear...

So, let's try again with this "Sleeping Beauty" Ruffy cat! He's so sweet...always by my side! :)

Let's see if it works now! :)

iPhone blogging: test 1

Recently Ely and I were thinking how to keep in touch with family and friends during our upcoming trip to United Arab Emirates and Oman...
Considering that international phone calls are billed something like 4€ per minute and SMS 1€ each by my local telephone company ...what's the best than using the blog?!?

I have just installed a new application on my I-phone to test if it works properly and then we will be able to post from the Arabic Peninsula!!!

Keep updated with our next adventures!

10 on 10 July : His Majesty the cat!

This month we didn't have time to take photos during the day...too much work, and Ely is preparing a difficult exam for the Law School. So we thought we could make a Kitty 10 on 10! We are so spoiling this adorable cat! We love you, Rufus (Ruffy for friends!). ;)

Here are the 10 best pictures taken these last few 10 days...

Vacation plans

At this time of the year body and mind ask for a rest and we start to desire to go on vacation. At work the office never sleeps, and there is always a lot to do. So, considering that my parents are going on holiday in about 15 days, Ely and I have to stay home and work until they come back. We'll close the office 15 days in August, because it's a traditionally vacation's time for everybody in Italy and in that period customers don't seek our assistance as much as they usually do. So that will be our vacation time!!

Knowing that at that time all italians will be on holiday too, we decided to avoid Italian beaches and fly away. The biggest temptation was to buy another flight for the USA (we never have enough! We love being there!), but it would have been the fourth time in a few years and so we started to look around for other interesting destinations. Among the best fliying offers, we found a very good one for Dubai, in the United Arab Emirates. It's such a trendy location for a holiday, expecially now that the city has boomed with incredible buildings and has a fantastic luxury hotel choice. So, why not?!?

And here we are, on Aug, 2nd we are leaving for Dubai and we'll stay for 2 weeks. How exciting! We have never experienced travelling in arab countries, and we are really looking forward to it. We are also making plans to spend 3 days in the Sultanate of Oman, expecially in the Musandam Peninsula, where it will be possible to explore typical bedouins villages in the mountains and go sailing and snorkeling in the turquoise waters of the local fjords that outstrech towards the coasts of Iran. In Dubai, we will spend some days visiting the city with its souks and mosquees, but we will also find the time to relax on the beach or by the pools of the different hotels we will be staying at. Dubai it's also a shopping mecca, so we won't miss some of the incredible enourmous malls. The only problem will be the extreme temperatures expected for August, on an averange between 113°F (45°C)/122°F (50°C) with very high humidity. :( Oh my! It will be damn hoooooot!!!!

We are preparing sun screen and swimsuits!
Can't wait for the holiday to begin!
